About Me
I have been working as a full-time translator since I graduated from Waseda University in 1990. I was born, raised and educated in Japan then moved to Scotland, U.K., which was my home for a total of 19 years until the end of 2007. After spending three years in Tokyo, Japan, I have moved to and currently live in the south of the Netherlands and work as a freelance translator, writer and cultural consultant.
I have been a fully qualified member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) in the UK since 2001. The ITI's rigorous assessment process makes its membership a mark of professional distinction, and I am one of the few ITI members who are qualified to translate both from and into Japanese.
Scotland remains a focus of my work, and I have translated three books by a Scottish author for publication in Japan and also co-wrote two Japanese books about Scotland.
